Pictured below are a few shots of my old work. All of this work was done between 2005 and 2007 (I was 19/20 years of age) when I was a “graphic designer.” At the time I was a young kid doing low-rate freelance work for a California based marketing company that catered towards contractors (i.e. roofing companies, concrete work, and general construction) I had zero formal design education and was working with a bootleg copy of Photoshop. That’s right, creating all of my print work (a ton of tri-folds, business cards, and postcards) in Photoshop…huge 300DPI documents that took forever to load, and were impossible to email.
I landed this gig by responding to a Craigslist ad that called for a graphic designer. I basically bullshitted my way through the entire “interview” (15 minute meeting) and made Gary feel comfortable in my abilities and my “schooling”…Whatever I said worked and I landed the gig.
I basically made between $100 - $250 for most of these print pieces. That included logo design, and print work…bargain. I didn’t have a clue, I just loved that I was doing design work for a living and thought it was cool.
Needless to say, I feel good knowing that I’ve improved. I love revisiting some of these pieces and having a laugh and thinking about how terrible I was.

Hope you got a kick out of this stuff. Thanks for looking.

Good question, probably riding wheelies on my bike when I was 6 or 7.
This 3 month old video from MK12 called “TELEPHONEME” is one of the coolest things I have ever watched. I really can’t describe it. It’s like a mix of old scientific/educational recordings and nostalgic footage from the 1950’s and 60’s. Brilliant really.
I just received confirmation that Los Logos - Compass (Gestalten Publishers), the 5th edition in the Los Logos series will be available in North America late September. Apparently I’ll be receiving a complimentary book. Sweet, can’t wait. I’m so happy to have been invited to submit work to such a great publishing company. I don’t remember how many pieces I have in this thing, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. This book is going to knock your socks off.
You can find out more about the book here.
